On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills placed C.J. Spiller on the Reserve/Injured Designated for Return list. Spiller broke his collarbone on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The running back will be eligible to return in Week 16 against the Oakland Raiders.
Buffalo signed RB Phillip Tanner to their roster to backup Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown. Tanner was with the Dallas Cowboys for the last three seasons. In his three years with Dallas, Tanner had 56 carries for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
Tanner wasn't Buffalo's first choice to replace Spiller. The Bills attempted to sign Antonio Andrews from the Titans' practice squad per Jim Wyatt of the The Tennessean. Tennessee promoted Andrews to their 53-man roster to keep the running back from leaving.
