Watkins Named Offensive Rookie of the Month

Sammy Watkins saw an increase in output in the month of October with Kyle Orton at quarterback. The Buffalo Bills went 3-1 during this span of time and Watkins played a big role in all three victories. Today, the NFL named him the Offensive Rookie of the Month.

The NFL named Sammy Watkins as the Offensive Rookie of the Month for October. This month, Watkins had 21 receptions for 393 yards and three touchdowns.

During the month of October, the Buffalo Bills went 3-1 and Watkins played a big role in all three victories. In Week 5, Watkins caught a 20 yard pass late in the game that set up Dan Carpenter's game-winning field goal. He finished the game with seven receptions for 87 yards. 

Following a disappointing loss to the Patriots, Watkins caught a game-winning touchdown pass against the Minnesota Vikings with one second remaining to push the Bills to a 17-16 victory. Watkins caught nine passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. He was named Pepsi's Rookie of the Week following his performance.

Last week, Watkins had three receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets. His production accounted for slightly less than 66 percent of Kyle Orton's total passing yards. Watkins is up for Pepsi's Rookie of the Week for his performance against the Jets.
