Mike Williams was released by the Buffalo Bills on Monday. The Bills traded a sixth round pick for the wide receiver and hoped that he'd provide the team with a red zone target. Unfortunately, the roster move did not pan out for Buffalo.
Williams finished the season with eight receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown. He was inactive four times this season.
Two weeks ago, the Bills waived Williams after he suffered a calf injury. He went unclaimed on waivers and was placed on Buffalo's injured reserve list. Now that Williams is healthy, the team was able to release the wide receiver.
Williams is now free to sign with any team. By releasing Williams before the third day of the 2015 league year, the Bills do not owe Williams any guaranteed salary going forward.
