Bills Deny Redskins Interview Request

Jim Schwartz did an outstanding job as Bills defensive coordinator in 2014. The Washington Redskins asked to interview Schwartz for their DC job, but were denied by the Bills.

Jim Schwartz's first season as defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills was a success. Here's a look at how the unit fared in 2014:

PPG Yards Pass Yards Rush Yards Sacks Interceptions
Totals 18.1 312.2 205.8 106.4 54 19
NFL Rank 4th 4th 3rd 11th 1st 6th

Football Outsiders also had Buffalo as the second best defense in the NFL behind the Seattle Seahawks

The Washington Redskins took notice of the job Schwartz did with the Bills and requested to interview him for their defensive coordinator spot according to Adam Schefter.

"Trying to capitalize on HC shakeups, Redskins asked for, but were denied, permission to speak with Bills DC Jim Schwartz about their DC job."

As Schefter mentioned, Buffalo denied Washington's request. It's believed that Schwartz will receive an interview for Buffalo's head coaching position. If Schwartz doesn't get the head coaching position, there's a good chance he'll return as Buffalo's defensive coordinator. It's hard to see anyone come in and want to replace Schwartz after the job he performed in 2014.
