The Buffalo Bills have officially added Greg Roman as their offensive coordinator.
Roman was previously the offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers. During his four seasons with San Francisco, Roman's offenses have run at will on opposing defenses. San Francisco ranked 8th in rushing in 2011, 4th in 2012, 3rd in 2013 and 4th this season. A power-running scheme sounds like a great fit based upon Buffalo's questions at quarterback and the fact that their defense can keep them in every game.
He became the first coach to officially part ways with the 49ers since Jim Harbaugh left the team and joined the Michigan Wolverines. Tomorrow, Chris Biderman of Niners Digest will share his thoughts on Roman.
Other Coaching Moves
-Jim Schwartz's contract was terminated on Tuesday. He did a terrific job with the Bills defense, but left due to philosophical differences with Rex Ryan. Dennis Thurman is expected to take over as Buffalo's defensive coordinator in 2015. He served in this role with the Jets from 2013-2014.
-Danny Crossman is expected to be retained as Buffalo's special teams coach. The special teams unit improved significantly this season in Crossman's second year.
