Coaches Who May Be Joining Rex Ryan's Staff

On Wednesday, Rex Ryan confirmed that Dennis Thurman and Donnie Henderson will be on his coaching staff. Ryan was photographed with some of his former coaches at a Buffalo Sabres game on Tuesday. Who were they and what were their titles with the Jets?

At Rex Ryan's introductory press conference, Ryan mentioned that Dennis Thurman and Donnie Henderson will both be on the defensive staff this season.

Thurman was Ryan's defensive coordinator for the last two seasons. Henderson has been with the Buffalo Bills since 2013 as the defensive backs coach.

Greg Roman was also officially added as the team's offensive coordinator.

Who else could be joining Ryan's coaching staff? Last night, Ryan was photographed at the Buffalo Sabres game by Harry Scull Jr. of The Buffalo News. Included in the picture were Thurman, Tim McDonald, Bobby April III and Tony Sparano Jr.

McDonald spent the last two seasons as New York's defensive backs coach.

April III, spent the last two seasons as the linebackers coach of the Jets. The name Bobby April is very familiar to Bills fans as his father served as Buffalo's special teams coach/assistant head coach from 2004-2009.

Sparano Jr. served as an offensive assistant with the Jets for the last three seasons. His father was interim head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2014.

Besides the coaches in the picture, Adam Caplan reported that Ryan would like to add David Lee, a quarterbacks coach, to the coaching staff. Lee actually held this position with the Bills in 2012.

Last, the Washington Redskins granted the Bills permission to interview offensive line coach Chris Foerster. The team also requested permission to interview 49ers OL coach Mike Solari.

UPDATE: Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News shared a list of Jets coaches who will be on Buffalo's coaching staff in 2015.

"Jets coaches who'll be on Bills staff: D. Thurman (DC), T McDonald (secondary), K Dunbar (Dline), Bobby April (LBs), T Sparano Jr & J Weeks"

Karl Dunbar has coached in the NFL for 10 seasons and spent the last three with the Jets. Jeff Weeks was New York's assistant DL/LBs coach this season. It was his fifth season with the Jets and sixth season in the NFL.
