Jeter Looked into Buying the Bills in 2014

Tim Graham of The Buffalo News revealed that Derek Jeter looked into the possibility of purchasing the Buffalo Bills in 2014.

When an NFL team hits the market, there are plenty of celebrity suitors who show interest. Before Terry and Kim Pegula purchased the Buffalo Bills, names such as Donald Trump and Jon Bon Jovi were interested in purchasing the team. It turns out that they weren't the only famous names who looked into purchasing the Bills.

Tim Graham of The Buffalo News reported today that Derek Jeter explored the possibility of purchasing the Bills while on his farewell tour with the New York Yankees. During his career, Jeter made $400 million between his contracts with the Yankees and endorsements, according to Forbes. Considering that the Bills were sold to the Pegulas for $1.4 billion, Jeter would have needed some partners to pull off the purchase.

Graham noted that the Pegulas were unaware of Jeter's interest in purchasing the Bills and have not entertained the thought of selling a portion of the team to the former Yankee. While Jeter would have made an interesting owner, the Pegulas were by far the best option for Bills fans who were worried about the team leaving Buffalo. The Pegulas own the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL and had previous ties to the Western New York area.
