Bills Free Agent Shopping: Dolphins Edition

The Buffalo Bills could look to the Dolphins to add competition at various positions. Four specific players may be on Buffalo's radar in free agency.

Improving your roster while also weakening a division rival is a win-win. The Buffalo Bills could do that in free agency by adding any players from the AFC East. The Miami Dolphins have a few players that could be appealing to the Bills. Here are four players the Bills may pursue in free agency.

4. Louis Delmas

Delmas is the only defender to make the list from the Dolphins. The biggest knock on the safety is that he cannot stay healthy. Delmas played in 13 games this season and has only played a full 16-game season once in his six year career. Delmas is a very physical player, which would make him appealing to Rex Ryan, but he can also be a bit overaggressive. Even if Buffalo signed Delmas, he would share reps with Duke Williams at strong safety.

3. Knowshon Moreno

The Bills have Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon at running back, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the team added another back to their roster. Their best bet is the NFL draft, but in free agency, Moreno is an option. He's coming off of a disappointing season where he suffered an elbow injury and torn ACL. It's hard to imagine Moreno getting any guaranteed offers so the Bills could sign Moreno for close to the veteran minimum. They'd promise the back nothing but an opportunity. It'd be a low-risk, high-reward signing for the Bills.

2. Matt Moore

Call it a hunch, but it seems like the Bills want E.J. Manuel to win the quarterback job in 2015. By signing Matt Moore, Buffalo would be giving Manuel a great opportunity to win the starting job. That's not a knock on Moore, but at this point in his career he's nothing more than a solid backup quarterback. Considering Manuel is the only quarterback on the team's roster, the team is expected to sign at least one veteran. Moore could compete with a rookie or lesser known entity for the backup job.

1. Charles Clay

Clay is an easy choice for number one. Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News noted that Buffalo was taking "a hard look" at Clay for their offense. That said, it doesn't mean that the Bills will even get to offer the tight end a contract. Andrew Abramson, a Dolphins reporter for the Palm Beach Post, reported that Clay is expected to return to the Dolphins. There's plenty of speculation this time of year, so anything is possible in regards to Clay. He'd certainly be a great free agent addition for a Bills team that's neglected the position for years.
