Bills Hosting Dawan Landry on FA Visit

Buffalo is hosting Dawan Landry on a free agent visit. Landry is coming off of a strong season in New York.

The Buffalo Bills are hosting safety Dawan Landry on a free agent visit. The visit was first reported by Rand Getlin

Landry, 32, spent the last two seasons with Rex Ryan on the New York Jets. During his time with the Jets, Landry has started in 30 of 32 games. Last season, the safety recorded 107 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) rated Landry as the ninth best safety in the NFL in 2014. Landry proved to be strong in coverage (+5.2), run defense (+4.2) and penalties (+1.4). According to PFF, Landry was not called for a penalty in 2014. The site also listed Landry as their second best safety in tackling efficiency and seventh in pass rush productivity.

Ryan hasn't added any defenders from the Jets, but Landry would be a welcome addition. Buffalo lost Da'Norris Searcy in free agency and the team currently has Duke Williams slotted as their starting strong safety. Landry could compete for the starting job, but at worst he's terrific depth. Landry's experience in Ryan's defense is certainly a plus.
