Woods' 'Super' Expectations for the Bills

Robert Woods isn't just thinking about making the playoffs...

The Buffalo Bills have made plenty of noise this offseason. The team kept Jerry Hughes, their top defensive free agent, and added talented offensive players like Richie Incognito, LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin and Charles Clay. After finishing the 2014 season 9-7, expectations are high in Buffalo. Many fans consider the Bills to be a playoff contender. Robert Woods has higher expectations than just being a playoff contender.

"Nothing less than the Super Bowl with this team and the possibilities of our offense and our defense. That's what we're shooting for,” Woods said in an interview on WGR-550.

That’s a pretty lofty goal, but Bills fans should respect Woods for putting it out there. Buffalo’s roster is talented and deep. Getting into the playoffs is obviously the first step and if the Bills get there, anything can happen.

Defensively, Buffalo is expected to be one of the best units in the league. Offensively, Woods likes what he sees from new offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

“A lot of new additions and new plays that we didn’t have before.  It’s pro-style but it’s all very advanced.  We didn’t have as many motions and shifts before. We’ll be able to disguise our offense more and defenses don’t know what’s going to come with lot of movements with a lot of guys. That can definitely keep the defense off balance at all times.”

Woods also noted that Roman has "great energy in the meeting room.  I just see his mind at work.  Talking motions, talking shifts.”

Buffalo is expected to be a run-first offense in 2015, but the team has some pretty talented pass-catchers. The ability level of Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, Charles Clay and Woods will keep defenses from stacking the box. As for Woods, he wants to be the top target in the passing game.

“To push to be the number-one, as well.  I’m comfortable and ready to make a lot more plays for this team, and we’re in a great position to do that with Greg Roman here as offensive coordinator.  I think we’ll be able to make plays, keep plays for this team, and just get a lot of wins here.”

Woods is coming off of a season where he caught 65 passes for 699 yards and five touchdowns. All three were career-highs for the wide receiver. Entering 2015, Woods is ready to contribute even more, but as he said the main goal is to get a lot of wins.

Woods’ expectations certainly sound super to Bills fans.
