Thurman Thomas: Marrone wasn't 'a good fit'

Thurman Thomas almost stopped coming around One Bills Drive during Doug Marrone's tenure as Bills head coach. Things have changed significantly since Marrone left and the team hired Rex Ryan. Now, Thomas enjoys the atmosphere.

Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas is very happy that Rex Ryan is head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Thomas told Jenny Vrentas of Sports Illustrated that former coach Doug Marrone wasn’t a great fit for the Bills and that Ryan’s personality has improved the atmosphere in Buffalo.

“I don’t think it was a good fit,” he says of the former coach. “It got to the point where I didn’t want to come around because he was the head coach, but I still came around because I know a lot of the players.

“Hell, we love being around Rex. You can just feel like a big cloud has been relieved from the pressure players were going through. It’s a fun atmosphere now.”

Ryan’s personality could not be any more different than Marrone’s, so it’s understandable why Thomas is excited about Buffalo’s new head coach.
