Hughes and Williams Named A Top Pass-Rush Duo

NFL Live listed their top pass rush duos in the league and the Buffalo Bills were represented.

ESPN’s NFL Live listed their Top 5 Pass Rushing Duos and a Buffalo Bills tandem made the list. Jerry Hughes and Mario Williams came in fourth on the list. Below is a look at NFL Live’s Top 5 Pass Rushing Duos:

1. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware

Denver Broncos

2. Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs

Baltimore Ravens

3. Justin Houston and Tamba Hali

Kansas City Chiefs

4. Jerry Hughes and Mario Williams

Buffalo Bills

5. Robert Quinn and Chris Long

St. Louis Rams

Buffalo’s duo combined for 24.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, 77 quarterback hurries and 16 quarterback hits in 2014. Among all of the duos listed, Hughes and Williams finished third in sacks and tied for second in terms of quarterback hurries.

In 2015, Hughes and Williams should receive plenty of opportunities to get after the quarterback in Rex Ryan’s defense. Back in 2013, the duo played under Mike Pettine in a defense similar to Ryan’s in terms of aggressiveness and both players thrived. According to Pro Football Focus, Williams finished second among all 3-4 OLB in quarterback hurries with 48 and Hughes was tied for seventh with 39. Hughes did so in only 621 defensive snaps.

Entering their third season together, Hughes and Williams are just getting started.
