Jeff Henderson, Goodwin’s teammate on Team USA, won the gold with a winning jump of 8.54 meters.

Goodwin just recently started competing in long jump events. He competed in last month’s US Track and Field Championships, finishing fourth. Before the championships, Goodwin had not competed in a long jump event since the 2012 Summer Olympics.

With the Pan-Am Games behind him, Goodwin can now focus on football. Buffalo Bills training camp begins on July 31 at St. John Fisher College. Goodwin is looking to rebound from a sophomore season in which he only caught one pass for 42 yards. The receiver battled injuries and fell into Doug Marrone’s dog house.

Things seem different for Goodwin heading into 2015 with Rex Ryan at head coach. Goodwin appeared on The John Murphy Show this offseason and was asked what he liked about Greg Roman’s offense. Goodwin responded with, “I’m actually a part of the offense.  That’s what I like about it.”

Goodwin showed that he still has what it takes to perform on the track and field. This season, Goodwin can show that he has what it takes to perform on the football field.
