Buffalo Bills sign CB Lavelle Westbrooks

Lavelle Westbrooks was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Lavelle Westbrooks was signed by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Westbrooks in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft. Last year, the cornerback suffered a thumb injury in training camp and was waived-injured. Eventually, Westbrooks reached an injury settlement with the Bengals.

Westbrooks, 23, played his college ball at Georgia Southern. In 2013, Westbrooks was named a second-team All-Southern Conference selection. Westbrooks was a four year starter at Georgia Southern. He had seven interceptions and 20 passes defensed in his college career.

Westbrooks will have the opportunity to contribute in Buffalo. Leodis McKelvin and Ross Cockrell are both currently out with injuries. To make room for Westbrooks, Buffalo designated wide receiver Caleb Holley as waived-injured.
