TBT: Manuel, Bills beat Panthers with late TD

Today's Throwback Thursday looks at a last second EJ Manuel throw that led to Buffalo's first win in 2013.

E.J. Manuel has been criticized quite a bit throughout training camp for his inconsistent play. He’ll have a great practice but then follow it up with one or more duds. Manuel will hit a long pass for a good completion, only to then hit a hospitality tent. When the Buffalo Bills take on the Carolina Panthers tomorrow night, Manuel will come onto the field with the third team offense. Manuel still has a chance to win the starting QB job in 2015, but he’ll need to start out with a strong effort against the Panthers.

For Throwback Thursday, we wanted to look back at a positive moment in Manuel’s career that took place against Carolina. In Week 2 of the 2013 season, Manuel led Buffalo to a late win, the first of his career, against the Panthers by completing a pass to wide receiver Stevie Johnson.

The touchdown came on blown coverage by the Panthers cornerbacks, but Manuel still delivered the throw with pressure in his face. Hopefully Manuel can get back on the right track Friday night.  A few touchdown passes against the Panthers could go a long way.
