EJ Manuel to work with third unit vs. Browns

The Bills have opted against using a true rotation among their three quarterbacks heading into their second preseason game. EJ Manuel will work with the third string offense for the second consecutive week.

Rex Ryan announced at the end of Sunday’s training camp practice that E.J. Manuel is going to see the majority of action in Thursday night’s preseason game with the Cleveland Browns.

It’s a good news, bad news scenario for the Buffalo Bills quarterback. The good news is that Manuel will play the majority of Buffalo’s second preseason game. The bad news is that Ryan is that Manuel fell out of the team’s rotation. Many people believed that Tyrod Taylor would start on Thursday with Manuel working with the second team unit. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case for Manuel.

Ryan’s news doesn’t mean that Manuel is out of the quarterback competition, but his chances of winning the starting job may have dropped significantly.
