The Buffalo Bills reached an injury settlement with WR Deonte Thompson on Friday.

Deonte Thompson reached an injury settlement with the Bills on Friday.

Deonte Thompson was waived from the injured reserve by the Buffalo Bills after an injury settlement was reached. The wide receiver is now free to sign with any NFL team, minus the Bills, once healthy.

Heading into the final two weeks of the preseason, it appeared that Thompson had a great chance of making Buffalo’s 53-man roster. He was performing well in training camp and in two preseason games, Thompson caught four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Thompson was playing so well that Rex Ryan noted that other teams were calling about the receiver.

Unfortunately for Thompson, he hurt his foot on August 27. The injury kept Thompson off the field for the remainder of the preseason. On September 4, the Bills designated Thompson waived-injured.

Once Thompson is fully healed, he should have no shortage of suitors. Thompson showed how talented he was this offseason and teams will be looking for a receiver who can step in quickly and contribute.
