Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan has a big time supporter in attendance today, his father Buddy Ryan.

Buddy Ryan actually has ties to the Buffalo area. The former coach started his career as the defensive line coach of the Buffalo Bulls (1961-1965). Three years later, Buddy Ryan was in the NFL as a defensive line coach with the Jets (1968-1975) and Vikings (1976-1977). From there, Ryan became the defensive coordinator of the (1978-1985). The 85 Bears team is still considered the best defense in the history of the NFL.

After the success of the 85 Bears, Ryan accepted a head coaching job with the Eagles (1986-90). In 1993, Ryan took a job as the defensive coordinator of the Houston Oilers and finished his coaching career as head coach of the Cardinals (1994-95).

Buddy Ryan has had some health issues in the last few years, so it's exciting to see that he's able to be in attendance for Buffalo's season opener.
