The New England Patriots worked out former Bills RB Bryce Brown Friday

The Patriots may be interested in RB Bryce Brown, but it's also possible that they wanted some information about Brown's former team.

There's nothing wrong with a little gamesmanship leading up to a matchup. On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills released running back Bryce Brown. Three days later, Mike Reiss reported that Brown worked out for the New England Patriots.

Brown is a quality back so there's nothing wrong with New England working him out. Yes, the team already has LeGarrette BlountDion Lewis and Brandon Bolden among others, but it's a long season and you never know when you'll have to bring in other players. It's also a chance for the Patriots to get some intel on their Week 2 opponent. In an early AFC East battle, you want as much information as possible about your opponent. Working out Brown was a win-win for New England. We may never know if the back had any useful information for the Patriots, but mind games are being played days before Sunday's game.

This preseason, Brown rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries (5.9 YPC) in two preseason games.
