This week has been a real lovefest between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots. Yesterday, Rex Ryan praised Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. He called Brady the best quarterback and stated that Belichick was the greatest head coach of all-time.
Today, it was the Patriots turn to praise the Bills and Brady didn't disappoint. When meeting with the media, Brady was asked about Buffalo's cornerbacks. His response was very complimentary towards Stephon Gilmore, Ronald Darby and company.
Brady always says positive things about his opposition, but in this case he isn't blowing smoke. Darby is currently Pro Football Focus' No. 4 cornerback in the league and he's thrived on the field as a rookie. Gilmore, the team's No. 1 cornerback, has also made big plays for the Bills in 2015. Gil Brandt of NFL.com recently pointed out the strong play of the duo.
In addition to nothing that Darby and Gilmore are in both in the top three in the league in passes defensed, Brandt also listed the top five cornerbacks in regards to lowest burn percentage.
Sure enough, both of Buffalo's cornerbacks made the list. Brady is the type of quarterback who can pick apart any secondary in the NFL, but Buffalo's healthy cornerbacks could give him some issues on Monday Night Football.
