Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs Halftime Report: The Sammy Watkins Show

Sammy Watkins has dominated but the Bills only lead by two at halftime.

Sammy Watkins has dominated the Kansas City Chiefs secondary but it's still a close game at the half. Sammy Watkins has 158 yards receiving and two touchdowns at the half but the Buffalo Bills only hold a two point lead. Buffalo is up 16-14 but their lead could be greater.

The Bills have made some errors in the first half. LeSean McCoy lost a fumble on a drive in which the Bills were moving the ball early in the game. That said, turnovers happen in rainy conditions. Kansas City got the board thanks to some great power running from Spencer Ware. The biggest play of the drive was a deep ball to Jeremy Maclin. It appeared that the ball hit the ground but the Bills decided not to challenge the play. Kansas City's second touchdown came on a deep ball to Maclin against Ronald Darby. It was Darby's first touchdown allowed this season and the cornerback had just returned to the game after being looked at for a concussion.

Buffalo only leads by two after Dan Carpenter missed his third extra point attempt of the season.

While there is plenty to feel positive about at halftime, the Bills find themselves in a battle. The defense has struggled to get after Alex Smith. Kansas City has triple teamed Jerry Hughes at times as Corbin Bryant, Alex Carrington and IK Enemkpali has struggled to win their one-on-one matchups. Smith has been effective as a passer and as a runner for the Chiefs. The defense needs to step up in the second half and hope the offense is just as effective as they were in the first half.

Kansas City will receive the ball to start the third quarter.
