Buffalo Bills claim WR Leonard Hankerson

Buffalo has added a wide receiver to their roster.

The Buffalo Bills have claimed wide receiver Leonard Hankerson off of waivers according to Field Yates' sources.

The waiver claim has been confirmed by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. According to Rapoport, the New England Patriots had hoped to re-sign Hankerson.

Hankerson began the 2015 season with the Atlanta Falcons. In eight games with Atlanta, Hankerson caught 26 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns. In his five year career, Hankerson has caught 107 passes for 1,408 yards and nine touchdowns.

In Buffalo, Hankerson will have the opportunity to see immediate playing time in Week 17. The Bills are pretty depleted at the position and feature only two regulars from the start of the season: Sammy Watkins and Chris Hogan. In Week 16, the Bills used Greg Salas (27 snaps), Marcus Easley (10 snaps) and rookie Dezmin Lewis (9 snaps). Following Easley's injury against Dallas, the Bills had an opening at the position.

Don't be surprised if Hankerson gets involved on offense against the NY Jets on Sunday.
