Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins appeared on First Take on Monday. During his time on set, Skip Bayless asked Watkins about quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Bayless praised Taylor's play and mentioned that he believed the Bills could have been 10-6 this season if Taylor had played against the Bengals and Jaguars. After speaking highly of Taylor, Bayless asked Watkins if he was sold on Taylor as a franchise QB.
"I'm sold. I'm definitely sold," Watkins said. "He's just grown as a leader on our team."
Watkins then mentioned that Taylor has put him in his place and coaches in their place at times. As for his on the field play, Taylor's accuracy as a passer was praised by Watkins towards the end of the segment. Watkins closed with a powerful statement about his quarterback saying, "He's going to be elite."
Over the final nine games of the season, it was apparent that Taylor and Watkins were on the same page. The duo connected for 49 receptions, 900 yards and seven touchdowns over this span of time.
