The Buffalo Bills have hired Kathryn Smith, the NFL's first female assistant coach

Kathryn Smith will be Buffalo's special teams quality control coach.

The Buffalo Bills are making NFL history. According to Pro Football Talk, the Bills are hiring Kathryn Smith as their special teams quality control coach. According to PFT, Smith has spent seven years with the Jets, so she's very familiar with Rex Ryan.

"Smith worked as the administrative assistant to coach Rex Ryan in 2015, a position she also held during Ryan’s final year with the Jets. Before that, she spent seven years as a player personnel assistant with the Jets. Previously, she was a game day/special events intern and a college scouting intern."

Once the news is made official, Smith will become the first full-time female assistant coach in the NFL.
