Can Rex Ryan's defense bounce back after a disappointing season? One of Ryan's former players, Bart Scott, believes that will be the case.
Ty Dunne of The Buffalo News is in attendance at a CBS presser as the network prepares for Super Bowl 50. At the presser, Dunne was able to talk to Scott about Ryan's defense. The former linebacker noted that every player needs to buy into Ryan's defense and noted that wasn't the case last season.
Mario Williams was specifically mentioned by Scott for not buying into Ryan's defense last year. Williams was very vocal about his issues with Ryan's defense and his lack of effort on the field was another way the defensive end showed his displeasure. "Super Mario" isn't expected to be on Buffalo's roster in 2016 which will benefit Ryan in terms of getting everyone on the defensive side of the ball to buy in.
Scott added that he believes Ryan is among the best defensive minds in the NFL.
Ryan's overall track record on defense seems to support Scott's statement. That said, Ryan needs to prove that last year's letdown was due to a combination of players not buying in and others simply adjusting to Ryan's complex defense.
