Fantasy Freebie Q&A

As promised I will answer randomly selected questions e-mailed into me and post them on Saturday night. This week's topic was on draft selection.

Just got done reading your Part III article on the new Bills Report website. Very helpful.

My question - 11 buddies and myself have decided to do a "keeper league" this year in which we will keep our teams from year to year. Who are some guys you think should be top 5-6 players. I've been thinking young guys, i.e. Vick, Portis, Moss, Owens, etc. Any opinion? Any response is greatly appreciated. Have a good one.

-Andy S.

Any of those guys would be excellent selections for a keeper league. In my opinion, the top 3 keepers at each position would be: RBs: Ladnian Tomlinson, Ricky Williams (Dolphins) and Clinton Portis WR: Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison. QBs: Mike Vick, Donovan McNabb and Daunte Culpepper

Where do you think is the earliest I should pick Priest Holmes? Would it be safe to pick him with a Top Five choice, despite his injury problems?

-Jay S.

From everything I've heard and read, Priest Holmes is back at full speed and is completely recovered from his injury. Holmes can easily be a top 5 pick. But as you pointed out, he is coming off hip surgery. You may want to consider drafting Ladanian Tomlinson or Ricky Williams before him. Both these players have their offense built around him and don't really have the injury concerns that Holmes carries with him. Drafting Marshall Faulk, Clinton Portis or Deuce McAllister are also solid running backs who will be very productive this year. You can't go wrong by passing on Holmes and taking one of them. Shaun Alexander is also a possibility to take before Priest Holmes, but he isn't the focal point of the offense the way Holmes was.

That concludes this week's Fantasy Freebie Q&A. Send me your questions at for next week's article. The topic will be Fantasy Sleepers. Please remember the deadline for sending questions is Thursday nights and only one question per person to make it fair as only will answer a select few.
