Phil Hansen, North Dakota State, DE (1991)
Hansen had quite a career at North Dakota State. He won two Division II National Titles at North Dakota State and was a two-time First Team All-American. In his career with the Bison. During his collegiate career, Hansen recorded 41 sacks and 32 passes defensed. After a highly successful career in college, Hansen was drafted to an extremely talented Bills roster. In his first three years with Buffalo, the team made it all the way to the Super Bowl.
Hansen was productive during his career with the Bills. Although his stats never jumped off the page, he only had one double-digit sack season, Hansen produced at defensive end with the Bills. In his first season, Hansen was named to the NFL’s All-Rookie Team. The defensive end played in 156 games with Buffalo (148 starts) and recorded 496 solo tackles in his career.
His career with the team lasted all the way to 2001. Over the course of his career, Hansen recorded 61.5 sacks. This total is third in team history to Bruce Smith and Aaron Schobel.
In 2011, Hansen was placed on Buffalo’s Wall of Fame.
