The 2016 NFL draft is 43 days away. Who have the Buffalo Bills drafted at pick 43?
Buffalo has drafted one player at pick 43. Here’s a look at the former Bills player.
Fred Brown, RB, Georgia (1961)
Brown played his college ball with the Georgia Bulldogs. During his career at Georgia, Brown rushed the ball 199 times for 1,022 yards and five touchdowns. He also recorded 47 receptions for 552 yards and seven touchdowns during his college career.
At Georgia, Brown’s favorite highlight was defeating Georgia Tech four times. In 2002, Brown told the Athens Banner-Herald that this was his favorite college highlight.
Brown said beating Tech four years in a row was the highlight of his college years. Bothered by injuries much of his career, Brown had considered signing with Tech. ''But not for long,'' he said. ''I liked Coach Butts, Georgia and Athens. My family was happy for me to be a Bulldog, and after I met some of the players, I knew where I wanted to spend my college career.''
As mentioned from the article, Brown dealt with injuries at Georgia and with the Bills. In his first season with the Bills, Brown appeared in five games. During that time, he had 53 carries for 192 yards and one touchdown and added an additional 11 yards receiving. The highlight of Brown’s rookie season was a 93 yard kick return for a touchdown on his first professional play.
Brown missed the entire 1962 season with injuries but returned in 1963. The running back appeared in four games in 1963 and carried the ball six times for 18 yards and a touchdown. He also had three receptions for seven yards and two kick returns for 40 yards.
At the time of his interview in 2002 with the Athens Banner-Herald, Brown was working as an agent with State Farm Insurance.
