At one point, it seemed like Deonte Thompson was going to make the Buffalo Bills roster in 2015. Unfortunately, a foot injury derailed any chances that Thompson had and Buffalo reached an injury settlement with the receiver. He spent the 2015 season on the Chicago Bears practice squad and main roster. In seven games, Thompson caught two passes for 81 yards.
Now, Thompson is a free agent and the Bills seem to have some interest. According to BuffaloBills.com, Thompson visited with the Bills on Tuesday:
Another familiar face was visiting at One Bills Drive on Tuesday. Wide receiver Deonte Thompson (6-0, 203), who was with the Bills last year through training camp, returned to talk with the coaching staff. Despite a productive preseason with Buffalo last summer, Thompson was caught in a numbers game at receiver and was released just days before the season opener.
Thompson was standing out at training camp last season with the Bills and he recorded four receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown in two preseason games before suffering a foot injury. It's possible that Buffalo signs Thompson to compete for a roster spot as he already has knowledge of the offense and the team has plenty of spots up for grabs behind Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods.null
