The Buffalo Bills last in generating pressure off stunts in 2015.

Things can only get better in 2016.

Everyone knows that the Buffalo Bills defense did not come close to meeting expectations in 2015. In Rex Ryan's first season with the Bills, Buffalo's defense finished 19th in yards, 19th in passing yards, 16th in rushing yards, and 15th in points. Perhaps the most disappointing ranking for the Bills came in the sack department. The Bills finished 31st in the league last season with 21 sacks. One season prior, Buffalo was first in this category with 54 sacks.

While Buffalo's sack totals were disappointing, the team's inability to simply pressure opposing team's quarterbacks was also a letdown. It turns out that the Bills were especially poor at creating pressure off of stunts. Pro Football Focus calculated the percentage of pressure that teams generated off of stunts and the Bills were the worst in the league.

This season, Ryan expects the defense to perform at a much higher level. Applying pressure off of stunts is just another area that the Bills will need to improve upon in 2016.
