Rex Ryan listed 16 in head coach rankings

Ryan finished 16th among all NFL head coaches.

The Buffalo Bills were a middle of the pack team in 2015, so it should not come as a surprise to see their head coach listed in the middle of the pack on a head coach ranking list. USA TODAY's Steven Ruiz ranked all 32 head coaches from worst to best and Rex Ryan found himself at No. 16 on the list.

Here's what Ruiz said about Ryan:

16. Rex Ryan, Bills

Ryan is known as a brilliant defensive mind, but he’s going to need a bounce back season to retain that title. He hasn’t produced a top-10 unit in three seasons, and he hasn’t led his team to a winning record since 2010.

It's a fair ranking considering Ryan hasn't had a winning team since 2010 as Ruiz mentioned. In his second season with the Bills, Ryan will be expected to lead the team to a winning record. Buffalo has finished the last two seasons, one without Ryan, with non-losing records so it's time for the team to take the next step and contend for a playoff spot in the AFC.

As for other AFC East coaches, Adam Gase of the Dolphins came in at No. 28, Todd Bowles of the Jets was listed at No. 15, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick finished first on the list and Ruiz labeled him as the greatest NFL coach of all-time.
