The Buffalo Bills are having an open competition for their third through sixth wide receiver jobs. Rookie wide receiver Kolby Listenbee is one player who will be fighting for a role on offense, but Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com is not sure if the speedy wide receiver will be ready for training camp at St. John Fisher. In his Fan Friday mailbag, Brown said the following about the former TCU Horned Frog:
Listenbee was very limited in the spring coming off double sports hernia surgery. That was followed by an inflamed pelvis. He’s been here at One Bills Drive since minicamp working to complete all his rehab and get medically cleared. At this point I’m not sure it’s going to happen by training camp. His rehab has had some peaks and valleys.
There’s no debating his playmaking potential knowing his straight line speed is world class, and he figures to be an option on kick returns. It all depends on whether he’s cleared medically to participate when training camp opens.
Many Bills fans assumed that Listenbee's addition to the team could end Marquise Goodwin's tenure with the team. That may end up being the case, but Listenbee will have to prove himself at camp and throughout the preseason if he hopes to win a roster spot. As noted by Brown, Listenbee could also compete for the team's kick returner job.
