Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore is 'planning to go out to training camp.'

It appears that Stephon Gilmore will attend be at St. John Fisher for the start of training camp.

Contract talks have stalled between Stephon Gilmore and the Buffalo Bills. It was reported last week that Gilmore planned to play out his contract with no deal on the horizon, but would Gilmore hold out from training camp? The answer appears to be no as he told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he's planning to go to training camp.

Ultimately, this was the right call for Gilmore. The cornerback doesn't have much leverage and training camp is an important time for the defense to work on their communication. After a disappointing 2015 campaign, it's important for the front seven and secondary to be on the same page. Gilmore and Ronald Darby were the bright spots of Buffalo's defense last year and their success will only increase if the defenders in front of them are positioned correctly and generating pressure.

As Gilmore stated, a deal will get done eventually for a cornerback will his type of talent. Buffalo's main priority appears to be Tyrod Taylor but it's still possible that the team reaches a new deal with the cornerback as well.
