Rex Ryan: Adolphus Washington will work with the starters at training camp

Adolphus Washington will get the first shot to start along with Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams.

Rookies report to Buffalo Bills training camp today and Adolphus Washington may be the happiest rookie in Buffalo's entire class. Buffalo's third round pick is going to be given the first shot at starting alongside Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan joined The John Murphy Show on Thursday and shared that the former Ohio State Buckeye will work with the first team defense at the start of training camp.

Rex's proclamation aligns with what Bills GM Doug Whaley stated shortly after the draft when he said the team's first three picks would start off the bus. Although Washington will be working with the first team defense at the start of camp, he'll still have to outperform Corbin Bryant at camp. Bryant started 10 games for the Bills in 2015 after Kyle Williams went down with a knee injury.

Buffalo's third round pick was viewed as one of the better interior defenders in the draft class in terms of pass rush productivity. Last year, Washington played 324 pass rush snaps with Ohio State and accumulated five sacks, eight QB hits, and 35 quarterback hurries per Pro Football Focus.
