Dick Jauron, who was fired by the Chicago Bears, has apperently received interest from the Buffalo Bills and might be interviewed in the next week, depending on what happens to the coaches ahead of Jauron on their list that we discussed in an earlier article. Jauron isn't considered among the top candidates but it could he's considered an alternative if the top choices decide to go elsewhere or perhaps he is being considered as something else.
Sources claim that Jauron would consider being a defensive coordinator in the right situation if his goal of becoming a head coach again fails to materialize. Jauron last served as a defensive coordinator in 1998 under Tom Coughlin, who is supposedly among the candidates the Bills are considering as a head coach as well. Another reason we feel Jauron would consider being a defensive coordinator is current assistant head coach Dick LeBeau coached Jauron as a player in Cincinnati. While current defensive coordinator, Jerry Gray is under contract for next season and supposedly also in the mix to be head coach many feel he may not remain in Buffalo because he was close to Gregg Williams and that Bills team President and GM Tom Donahoe did state that whomever is named head coach will be able to name his own assistants.
Of note current Bills offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride served in the same capacity in Jacksonville to futher promote the speculation that Tom Coughlin could be high on the Bills lists of head coaching candidates.
Back to Jauron landing in Buffalo, Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. is said to respect Jauron. Finally, Jauron can also credit starting his NFL coaching experience in Buffalo, having coached the Bills' secondary in his first pro job in 1985.
