Bills win Gildon sweepstakes

Jason Gildon has agreed to a one year contract with the Buffalo Bills. ESPN's website reports the contract wil be worth $1.25 million and incentives worth around $500,000.

While the Bills don't need a starting LB, the team likely added Jason Gildon in an effort to add veteran depth. The addition of Gildon should also help add to a suspect Bills pass rush. While only registering 6.0 sacks last season, Gildon's lowest single season total in the past six seasons, those 6.0 would have placed him second on the Bills team in individual sack totals behind DE Aaron Schobel, who registered 11.5.

Gildon had many pursuers after being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this offseason. The Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers were also very much interested in signing Gildon as were the Chicago Bears but Gildon said, through his agent Peter Schaffer, earlier this week that he narrowed his choices to the Bills, Bengals and Packers on Wednesday. ESPN also reports that Gildon turned down a two year contract with the Bengals which resulted in the team extending the contract of DE Duane Clemons yesterday.
