OL Rodney Reed joins practice squad

The Bills have signed OL Rodney Reed to their practice squad. Reed joins the team after he spent this preseason with the Atlanta Falcons. Reed had went undrafted this past April out of LSU.

Reed replaces QB Greg Zolman, who was released to make room on the practice squad. Below is his predraft report (courtesy of theNFLexperts.com)

Name: Rodney Reed
School LSU Year 5Sr
Ht: 6-3.5 Wt: 285 40: 5.14 Pos: G

Bio: Started forty seven of forty eight games at LSU since his freshman season. Used at right tackle the past two seasons after manning the blind side during his sophomore campaign.

Pos: Efficient and hard working lineman that makes the most of his skill. Quick setting in pass protection, blocks with good lean and plays heads up football. Fundamentally sound, gets leverage on opponents and fights with his hands. Effectively uses blocking angles and and jolts opponents with his hands.

Neg: Not a natural knee bender, lacks adjustment and only good in a small area. Exploited by speed rushers and lacks overall blocking range. Marginal strength and can not finish blocks.

Analysis: A lineman that does not pass the eyeball test, Reed has limited upside for the next level though his versatility will be key. The ability to back up at either tackle spot or even be moved inside to guard along with his feel for the position could make him an inexpensive role player at the next level.
