Bills add Uyi Osunde to practice squad

The Bills have signed LB/DE Uyi Osunde to their eight man practice squad.

He takes up the spot opened up when OL/TE Jason Peters was activated to 53 man roster last week.

Uyi Osunde joins the Bills after playing with the Cleveland Browns during the preseason. Osunde joined the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Connecticut. Osunde didn't make the Browns as a weak side linebacker. The UConn product played defensive end in college yet struggled early on with the Browns and injuries held him out of most of training camp.

Uyi Osunde School Connecticut Year 4Sr
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 252 40: 4.74 Pos: OLB

Bio: Three year starter that's lined up at both defensive end and linebacker. Totaled 81/22.5/10 as a senior after 76/15.5/9.5 the prior year. Pos: Athletic defender who makes an enormous amount of plays behind the line of scrimmage. Quickly gets off the ball, plays with forward lean and has a closing burst of speed. Fluid changing direction, collapses laterally and chases the action hard. Reads the action and effective standing up over tackle.

Neg: Engulfed at the point by larger lineman or easily knocked off balance by the first block.

Analysis: A fine athlete that competes hard, Osunde flashes the ability to create havoc but is not big enough to be an every down lineman in the NFL. Could play on the outside in a three-four system and may eventually be able to put his hand on the ground as he physically matures.
