The Jeff Blake story

There is nothing new with Jeff Blake. A source in D.C. tells me that his meeting with Steve Spurrier and Dan Snyder went well last week, but Blake should be wary of becoming a Redskin partly because Spurrier is serious about giving ex-Florida Gator Danny Wuerffel the opportunity to compete for the starting job there, and ...

partly because the Redskins don't have the cap space to compete with an offer from Buffalo – if there is an offer from Buffalo. My source still considers the Bills Blake's No. 1 choice.

Of course, things in Buffalo aren't so clear-cut for Blake either. Yes, he likes Kevin Gilbride. But Blake would probably have to compete with Alex Van Pelt to be the starter.

Other teams that have made inquiries into Blake are Houston and Baltimore. Houston is believed to have offered him a one-year deal, which is not to his liking. He'd prefer a multi-year agreement.
