Jackson to Buffalo?

Raiders free agent tackle Grady Jackson was in Buffalo to check out the scene. Jackson is a 6'2", 325-pound take-up-spacer. That's short for "he takes up space," and holds his line at the point of attack.

He plays the style the Bills need from a strongside defensive tackle – someone who's going to shut down a gap between the center and guard or guard and tackle. The Bills pro personnel people really like Jackson.

Jackson's biggest problem, however, is his weight and his effort in trying to monitor and control it. Teams want to make sure that he is going to be in the proper condition to play a 16-game schedule, so consequently the weight question dogs him like it used to with nose tackle Ted Washington.

Thus, Jackson has garnered interest, but no team has taken the next step to sign him. The Chiefs, Jets, Packers, and Broncos – as well as the Raiders – are also interested in him and have been talking to his agent.
