Jauron hires Bears assistant Coiner

Buffalo Bills expected to hire Charlie Coiner as TE coach.

According to reports in the Buffalo News, the Buffalo Bills are expected to name Chicago Bears assistant Charlie Coiner their new tight ends coach. Coiner, 45, was assistant special teams coach of the Bears in 2004 and 2005. He was hired by current Bills coach Dick Jauron in Chicago in 2001 as the Bears' offensive quality control coach until his promotion to special teams coach in 2004.

Before his NFL career, Coiner spent one season as the offensive coordinator at Texas Southern (2000). Coiner served as the special teams coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU in 1999 and was linebackers coach at Tenn.-Chattanooga in 1998. Prior to his stint at UTC, Coiner was a tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Louisville (1995-97). Other college career stops include Texas Southern (offensive line/special teams) 1994; Vanderbilt (special teams/nose guards/recruiting coordinator) 1991-93; Austin Peay (offensive line/special teams/linebackers) 1988-1990; Minnesota (defensive line assistant/kicking game) 1987; Appalachian State (defensive tackles/offensive tackles/ tight ends) 1983-86.
