Ahanotu, Shawn Price not on board yet

No word on Chidi Ahanotu or Shawn Price yet. General Manager Tom Donahoe was watching the Bills' morning workout inside the St. John Fisher College gymnasium, where the team practiced the day's only session because of rain. Donahoe left with about 15 minutes to go. A Bills official doesn't anticipate anything happening with Ahanotu or Price today …

It was a very low-key, low-energy walk-through covering special teams and specific offensive and defensive situations such as fourth and 1 and goal line. Marcus Price was filling in for Jonas Jennings at left tackle and Michael Early was playing for Ruben Brown.

Jennings walked out of the training complex with a white plastic walking boot (like a ski boot) on his right foot and he needed a crutch to get around. It looks like he may be questionable for the season opener in three weeks.

Perhaps worse off is defensive tackle Leif Larsen. Larsen suffered a groin pull three days ago. He's using two crutches and getting around very gingerly. Larsen was on the bubble and was likely to be released by the team, but his injury complicates matters – he theoretically can't be released until he passes a physical, or he could accept an injury settlement from the team and then be released. The other two options are: the Bills could keep him on their active roster – pay him weekly – and release him when he's healthy, but that takes up a roster spot. Or they could put him on Injured Reserve, where he would be paid his entire salary this season, which would probably cost more money than they would want to spend on him, particularly because he's not getting any better …

Drew Bledsoe will play most of the first half vs. the Vikings, with Alex Van Pelt finishing out the second quarter. The Bills want Travis Brown to play most of the second half and David Priestley to see some time toward the end of the fourth quarter …

Travis Henry, Shawn Bryson, Richard Huntley and Sammy Morris will play in a rotation during the first half.
