Winfield: 'It's three games and go home'

Most of the Bills insisted Monday that the team still has a chance to reach the playoffs, but not Antoine Winfield.

Buffalo's left cornerback said bluntly, "It's hard knowing now we don't have a chance to get the playoffs. We can only get in by New England losing the last three or Miami losing the last three, so it's pretty much three games and go home."

Winfield was frank and matter-of-fact in discussing the team's problems, especially on defense.

"We pretty much put ourselves in the situation. With all the talent we had, we should have done better."

Of the defense, he said, "We just didn't stop anybody. We didn't get off the field. We didn't get any turnovers."

What have been the specific problems? "It's all of it – technique, missing tackles, not making plays."

Other players put up a brave front.

Said Eric Moulds, "We don't know what the other teams are going to do. We have to get the team to fight this week, and hopefully have three good weeks."

Keith Newman said, "I don't think it's as bleak as it appears, but we need to get help."

"Stranger things have happened," said head coach Gregg Williams. "We're not out of it until someone says we're out of it."

Most likely someone, and mathematics, would say that if the Bills lose at home Sunday against San Diego.
