Schon: Live Game Blog Broncos - Seahawks

You gotta love a home opener – always brings out the craziest… Most creative t-shirt for sale in the parking lot is a tie this week between the picture of an infant checking out his diaper and explaining he's "Sportin' and Orton" and the "John Elway wears Tim Tebow Pajamas"…

You gotta love a home opener – always brings out the craziest… Most creative t-shirt for sale in the parking lot is a tie this week between the picture of an infant checking out his diaper and explaining he's "Sportin' and Orton" and the "John Elway wears Tim Tebow Pajamas"…

Players have just been introduced; wicked cool flyover and we're getting set for kickoff in less than 15 min. This one's gonna rock – make sure you refresh it often for all the latest madness.

1st Quarter
Ninety-one degrees at kickoff and that's a Broncos record for the highest home temp at kickoff in the history of the team – we'll see how that plays out… Seahawks take the kick and Matt Hasselbeck is moving the chains – four first downs on this drive alone. Hawks ball on the Broncos 12 and Hasselbeck connects with Deon Butler and they're inside the 10 with first and goal… jacked out start so far for the Broncos D.

Seattle on the ground - Forsett TD is brought back on a hold and it's a first from the 16-yard line. Just when you need it the most – it's Champ to the rescue – INT on the Broncos four and Seahawk drive is shut down – Crowd loved that one…

Orton and the dink and dunk – drive stalls on the 34 – Colquitt to punt. 54-yarder – FUMBLE - Broncos retain possession deep in Seattle territory. Four plays later it's the Orton to Royal connection and the Broncos light it up for a 7-0 first quarter lead – hangover is nearly gone at this point…

Seattle's own version of dink and dunk – only less effective. Broncos D mans up and Moss and Williams combine for a Hasselbeck sack – drive stalls and Jon Ryan nails it 51-yards. Broncos field it at their own 19 and the quarter comes to a close…

2nd Quarter
Here's a fun sidenote - Rockies are banging the Dodgers 6-1 in La La Land. Here in the 5280 its McD with the tricks up his sleeve – dude's got a pair… Flea flicker to Moreno back to Orton and then to Royal – ball is down near the one… definitely winning friends with this playbook. Seattle challenges but gets blown off – it's first and ten from the one.

Slamming it on the ground – Correll Buckhalter powers it in for the score – 10 plays, 81-yards and the Broncos open it up 14-0 with a little over 10:00 left in the first half… did I mention that quitting smoking really blows?

Got to hand it to Hasselbeck – he's keeping it moving – Seattle crosses midfield and the Broncos defense looks to tighten it up… Brian Dawkins with the pick – Broncos force their second turnover of the afternoon… Orton and Co take over on their own seven – nice first half of play to this point…

When he's on – he's on and right now Orton's the man in Denver – nice mix of run and pass and the ball is down to the Seattle 27-yard line at the two-minute warning… Offense keeps it moving – inside the ten with .30 to go. Broncos push it hard but it falls short with a Buckhalter drop – Prater splits the uprights and extends the lead 17-0. Excellent 16 play, 91-yard drive and the Broncos close out the half with a sweet hometown lead. Wicked dash to the buffet line for members of the media – unpleasantly scary…

3rd Quarter
So here we go again – Broncos take the kick and promptly go nowhere – stalling it out on their own 22. Colquitt nails the kick but the coverage absolutely blows and Seattle pulls off a 63-yard return. That one hurt…

Hasselbeck on a short field makes it look easy – strike to Obomanu from 11 lights it up – Broncos hold a 17-7 lead with just under ten left in the quarter. Wondering if this is the start of the meltdown…

I swear Knowshon Moreno's my new best friend – screen pass busts out for 45-yards – Orton's got it inside the 20 – Orton to Graham moves the chains and it's first and goal from the one…

Moreno clears it on his own - caps off a sweet 10 play, 80-yard drive that tore up 6:16 off the clock - Broncos hold a 24-7 lead midway through the third.

Totally lame coverage, sloppy tackling and before you know it Broncos defense give Hasselbeck another short field. Major bailout and they find redemption. Fourth and two from the 20 and Hasselbeck sails it in-com-plete… Nice dodge - Orton and Co close out the third still holding a 24-7 lead…

4th Quarter
Fourteen-plays, 80-yards and another chunk of change off the clock – Orton hits Demaryius Thomas from 21 out and the Broncos are blowing it out 31-7 with just under ten left in the madness - brilliant way to crank it out on a home opener…

Seattle's working it – but it's taking way to long to get anything started – Hasselbeck's looking at secnd and eight from the Broncos 21 with 6:00 remaining – QB scramble – who would have thought – untouched into the end zone – Hawks narrow it 31-14 for those of you keeping score…

Wrapping this one up – headed to the locker room for all the craziness of post-game coverage… Notes and Quotes to follow - barring any unforeseen arrests.

Nice rap with Eddie Royal, Brandon Lloyd, Knowshon and Mario Hagan. Audio and quotes to be posted shortly...
