Anyone who's been following the Denver Broncos throughout training camp and the preseason already knows that the team lost their starting weakside linebacker, and cybernetic tackling machine, Danny Trevathan, to a fractured tibia a few weeks ago.
At the time of injury, the team's medical staff said he'd be out 6-8 weeks, although Trevathan has vowed to whittle that down to 4-6.
The Broncos 2013 leading tackler is officially out for Sunday's opening game vs the Indianapolis Colts.
In Trevathan's absence, the team has turned to 3rd year pro, Brandon Marshall. No, not that Brandon Marshall.
Marshall turned out a series of very impressive performances during the preseason. As much of a blow as it is to lose your team's top tackler to injury, having a versatile player like Marshall to step in mitigates the sting. He can more than hold down the fort while Trevathan is recovering.
Offensive guard, Ben Garland, finally made the Broncos' final 53-man roster, after trying relentlessly since he was picked up as an undrafted rookie free agent our of the Air Force Academy by former Head Coach Josh McDaniels.
Unfortunately, he'll be out for his first ever regular season game as a rostered member of the Denver Broncos.
Von Miller and Chris Harris, Jr, will make their triumphant returns to the field on Sunday, respectively.
Miller was lost late in the season to a torn ACL. Harris suffered a partially torn ACL in the Broncos Divisional Round playoff victory over the San Diego Chargers.
Both players were cleared for full contact weeks ago. Miller saw his first live game action vs the Houston Texans in week 3 of the preseason. But it was only a handful.
Harris has yet to return to the field, outside of practice, so he's champing at the bit to lace 'em up.
Emmanuel Sanders, who had been nursing a quad injury, will also be a full go for Sunday night's game. Other than Trevathan, the Broncos will be in full force on Sunday for the first time in a long time.
WR Isaiah Burse (illness), CB Chris Harris (knee), DE Malik Jackson (not injury related), DT Terrance Knighton (knee), WR Emmanuel Sanders (thigh), G Louis Vasquez (back), CB Kayvon Webster (ankle)
