We've been talking about how the Denver Broncos, and especially Peyton Manning, are ready exorcise their Super Bowl demons. They've been doing just that tonight, as they are leading the Indianapolis Colts at halftime 24-7.
Manning has played with surgical precision, going 16/22 for 199 yards and 3 TDs. Tight end, Julius Thomas, cannot be contained and has been on the receiving end of all 3 of those touchdowns. The Colts have no answer for him.
Manning has gotten Emmanuel Sanders heavily involved in the offense early. With 5 receptions for 68 yards and one carry for 11, Sanders has put the NFL on notice. His speed and short area burst has been on full display.
The new-look Broncos defense had shut the Colts out until the very end of the 2nd quarter, when Andrew Luck scrambled for a TD. Aqib Talib is playing as advertised, deflecting a Luck pass into the hands of Rahim Moore.
Nate Irving, the Broncos Mike linebacker, has been making plays all over the field, but has made the biggest impact behind the line of scrimmage with a tackle for a loss and a sack.
It's still early. As we saw last January vs the Kansas City Chiefs, no game is out of reach for the Andrew Luck-led Colts. The Broncos will get the ball first in the 2nd half. Chad Jensen can be found on Twitter @CJ_Broncos.
