It took them a day to fully evaluate the situation, but the Denver Broncos finally decided to place injured weakside linebacker, Danny Trevathan, on the Injured Reserve- Designated to Return list.
This puts him out for a minimum of 8 weeks. He'll be eligible to return to the team in time for their week 15 road trip to face the San Diego Chargers. It's a tough blow, but one that the Broncos are set up to absorb.
Brandon Marshall has been plugged in as the starter to replace him. Rookie 7th round pick, Corey Nelson, is also likely on deck to see an increase in snaps. Together, these 2 linebackers combined for 14 tackles last week vs the New York Jets.
The team is expected to promote undrafted rookie free agent, Shaquil Barrett, also a linebacker, from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Barrett hails from Colorado State and made some waves in the preseason as a pass rusher.
