2014 was a year of firsts for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. After four years of being the third option in Pittsburgh, he signed with the Denver Broncos in 2014 and proceeded to light the NFL on fire. Before 2014, he had never had a 100-yard receiving game, let alone a 1,000-yard season.
But catching balls from Peyton Manning, Sanders had seven 100-yard receiving games on the way to 101 receptions, 1,404 yards and nine touchdowns. This earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl. He and Demaryius Thomas became the NFL’s most dominant receiving duo, amassing more than 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns together.
Indeed, Sanders received the recognition from fans, coaches and players, which propelled him on to the NFL’s All-Star game but what likely matters most to him, however, is the opinion of his peers. They reemphasized that admiration by voting him on to the NFL Network’s Top-100 Players of 2015.
Sanders is in “wide receiver heaven” in Denver, playing with Manning. Most expect Sanders to have an even bigger year in 2015, but considering that he’s learning a new system under head coach Gary Kubiak, Broncos fans might have to settle for numbers close to 2014’s and another Pro Bowl berth.
