HBO's 'Hard Knocks' makes for appointment television for any fan of the National Football League. Whether it's the behind the scene conversations in the coaches' meeting room, to individual player spotlights, to guys getting informed of their release inside the office of the General Manager, 'Hard Knocks' never disappoints.
Every year, a not-so-lucky NFL franchise gets chosen for the 'Hard Knocks' gig. This year, it's the Houston Texans—the team next up on the Denver Broncos preseason schedule. HBO is all about milking whatever dramatic thread they can find and Gary Kubiak's return to Houston to take on the team he coached for seven and a half years, will offer all kinds of opportunities to exploit.
After episode two this past Tuesday, viewers were given a preview of next week's episode and Peyton Manning and the Broncos were front and center. There are so many ties between these two clubs, to say nothing of the drama that came out of their preseason joint practices and game last year—the 'Hard Knocks' producers are being surved up drama on a plate this week.
What we've learned about the Texans so far in watching 'Hard Knocks' is that the quarterback competition between Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer is in a dead heat, J.J. Watt is a freak on the field, Vince Wilfork makes it rain in the locker room with dead foot skin, Bill O'Brien is comfortable with the eff-bomb and Brian Cushing firmly believes that he's the man.
It'll be fun to see how the Broncos fit in to next week's episode.
