Each week, teams of the National Football league must designate seven inactive players on their 53-man roster. It's a ridiculous, archaic rule, but alas, the Denver Broncos must comply. They have announced which players will not suit up today vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
Quarterback Trevor Siemian comes as no surprise. We reported Friday that starting left tackle Ty Sambrailo would miss Week 4 with a shoulder injury. As you can see, one name omitted from this list is the newly-signed tackle Tyler Polumbus. He will suit up and be available, should Michael Schofield struggle at right tackle today in his first career start.
It's disappointing to see defensive end Kenny Anunike on this list. He's coming off an August knee-scope procedure and has been practicing with the team for two weeks, albeit in a mostly limited way. Without suspended DE Derek Wolfe, the Broncos have only had a five-guy rotation on the defensive line. Anunike would bring some much needed help, but the team medical staff are oviously not quite confident in his knee.
Omar Bolden again is inactive. The Broncos could use him in the kick return game. He provided an explosive spark to the return game late last season, after Andre Caldwell failed to. As a defensive back, Bolden's absence is mitigated by arguably the deepest secondary in the NFL.
